Yes visual aids are worth more than a thousand words. Visuals may include, preschool toys and work books that contain the concept of literacy. Find preschool worksheets that introduce alphabets, sounds, numbers, counting, shapes, colors, dot to dot drawing, coloring in and cutting out activities. As his age progresses, adapt to his needs. You may include advance preschool worksheets that are more on mathematics, reading, writing, perception and more general knowledge. With the help of these pre-school worksheets your child can develop the basic skills he needed when he starts his formal education.
This sounds like an awful lot, doesn’t it! A good set of preschool worksheets should cover all of this, and more. In the preschool years, repetition is the key to learning, but you should look for worksheets that teach the same skills in a variety of ways. This not only prevents boredom setting in, but also reinforces the concepts by encouraging understanding as well. The importance of reading to your child cannot be emphasised enough, and you should encourage them to ’read’ as much as possible too.
Story time excitement can be created in the preschool classroom with a student made book. At the beginning of the preschool year the student could create an ’About Me’ styled book. Include pages about their favorite foods, family pets, favorite color, a hand drawn family portrait or even a self-portrait. Add the books to the preschool class library to encourage not only the love of reading but individual familiarity. A book extension activity will also encourage the understanding of the book being read. Many extension activities include the creation of a ’mimic’ styled handmade book produced by the student. It may also include activities / worksheets based on the book being introduced but are inclusive of the basic concepts introduced in a preschool classroom. Again, the limits are only set by the vision of the instructor.
To Pay or Not to Pay? There are hundreds if not thousands of free printable worksheets available online. These are ideal for filling time or keeping the kids busy on a rainy day, but few of them offer a systematic set of worksheets with activities designed to teach your children a specific set of skills. If education is your aim, you may have to spend a little to get useful, comprehensive worksheets that actually help your child to learn.
Early training is easier and faster. To illustrate, if you shape clay while it is still soft, it will be easier and flexible, similarly the child’s young brain is easy to mold. We can start training them while they are still inside the mother’s womb. And when the child is born his brain is ready to learn. Child fast development takes place during the first year after his birth. He starts to recognize movements, sounds, shapes, colors, and even counts. So if you develop your child earlier the result will be better. kindergarten will be too late
Do not over do the activity though. Spend only a limited amount of time each day. It is important that kids enjoy the exercise otherwise they will soon start hating the entire learning process – and this is not good news. If your children have older siblings then you can get them to do their activity when the older ones are doing their school work. Do not stick to a rigid scheduled – going with the flow usually works for me. Some days they might not want to do any writing – and that is okay. May be do some painting or reading on these days. See how you child is on that day and adjust your teaching scheduled accordingly.
